I am a quick and enthusiastic learner, who thrives on new challenges (such as looking after children at a US summer camp) and I am determined to complete any project set to me diligently, conscientiously and successfully. I am a talented and methodical problem solver, excel at working in teams, and take great pride in my ability to both lead and take direction.

Academic Interests

I have toured several whisky distilleries and have a particular interest in the whisky making process. While at the Diageo Leven site I took a particular interest in the operations of both the Leven Pilot Distillery and the Cameronbridge Grain Distillery. I also attend whisky festivals and tasting events regularly. I have participated in a Peer Mentoring programme, was an active member of the Strathclyde Chemical Engineering Society and have been a member of the University of Strathclyde Motorsport society.

Modules passed include: Fluid Flow and heat transfer, Advanced Reactors, Process control and Mass Transfer and Separation Processes. Experience gained with MathCad and Aspen software.

I have participated in lots of group work during my course including two Design projects, a Renewable Energies project, a “Frontier of Chemical engineering” project, Lab experiments and numerous reports. During these projects I productively contributed and implemented ideas towards the structure of reports,the management of workload, the presentation and content of our group’s work, and also developed my leadership, communication, presentation and teamwork skills.

Job Title: Manufacturing excellence intern

Employment Dates: Jan 2018-July 2018

Job Duties: At Diageo I managed several projects, mainly focusing on Clean In Place (CIP) and compressed air purges to remove spirit and water from pipework. My main project, using six-sigma techniques, focused on reducing Line 13’s weak spirit, due to excessive water retention, has been applied to the line through coordination of two external process control software companies. This is projected to save the company roughly £4000 per month in opportunity cost, for an outlay of £2,206 in fees to external contractors. During my time at Diageo I gained experience in Project management, Risk assessment and continuous improvement.

Job Title: Conference and Events Assistant

Employment Dates: July 2017-Jan 2018

Job Duties: At the Hilton I provided table drinks service for several tables at a time during each event, in addition to this I have been helping with bar and food service whenever possible. It has improved my ability to build a rapport with clients, make quick decisions and increased my knowledge and appreciation for alcoholic drinks.

Job Title: Sales Assistant – Fresh Food Pre-Packed

Employment Dates: Sep 2014-Nov 2016

Job Duties: At Morrison’s I was responsible for putting out stock, date checking, price markdowns and keeping the shelves neat and tidy. This role has given me experience of dealing with responsibility for my performance, especially when working in the department alone. In addition to normal sales assistant duties, I was often entrusted with a quasi-managerial role, supervising the duties and personnel of two entire departments while completing my regularly assigned work.

Job Title: Camp Counselor and Golf Instructor

Employment Dates: June 2015-Aug 2015

Job Duties: At camp I was looking after a cabin of 6-8 year olds and teaching golf to both experienced and inexperienced golfers at the camp. Looking after such young kids really pushed me out of my comfort zone and I really had to adapt and learn quickly to become a counselor that was highly valued and asked to return. I found this experience improved my leadership and communication skills.
